How many Ladybirds in the Fairyland Paddock?

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

Hello my fantastic fairy friends,

Let me tell you about my favourite thing to do in my free-fairy time. I love, love, love to go out into the ladybird paddock right next to my little red cottage and catch the ladybirds. There are lots of ladybirds there and they are quite quick, so it is very good exercise but makes my wings so very tired!

I like to catch them and count the spots on their backs.

At the moment there are 150 ladybirds in the paddock – it took me days to catch them all!

I found out that there are:

5 ladybirds with 1 spot
12 ladybirds with 2 spots
8 ladybirds with 3 spots
20 ladybirds with 4 spots
17 ladybirds with 5 spots
25 ladybirds with 6 spots
19 ladybirds with 7 spots
9 ladybirds with 8 spots
13 ladybirds with 9 spots
22 ladybirds with 10 spots

That means that the most popular number of spots is 6! Did you know that? It made me very happy because 6 is my very favourite fairy number!

Next time you see a ladybird, be sure to count the spots on her back. She might just be from the paddock next to me!

Lots of fairy hugs,

Easter Bunny gives recipe for Hot Cross Buns!

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Yes boys and girls, you heard it right! The one and only Easter Bunny gave our very own Fairy Princess Buttons the “very special, very secret, very delicious” (I was quoting the Easter Bunny there) recipe for the Hot Cross Buns he and his mother eat over the Easter period.  Buttons came running to me this very morning, jumping with excitement, telling me all about her visit from the Bunny and how he had imparted the magical gift of his special recipe. She asked me if I could put it up in our blog, so that you can all practise a little before Easter, and maybe make some buns to leave out for the Easter Bunny when he comes to hide some eggs at your house!

Are you ready? Here it is!
750g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
250g currants*
300ml milk
3 eggs, beaten
1 egg, beaten, for glazing
2 sachets dried yeast
2 tablespoons mixed spice*
125g butter
100g brown sugar
Paste for crosses: 1/4 cup flour mixed with a little cold water
– Put the flour, yeast, salt, mixed spice and currents into a bowl and make a well in the centre.
– Melt the butter and add the milk together with the sugar. Warm to blood temperature the same as your fingers – yeast is very temperature sensitive.
– Pour the milk and butter mixture into the well and add the beaten eggs.
– Mix until a soft dough is formed.
– Turn out into a lightly floured board and knead until the dough is very elastic (about 15 minutes).
– Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and allow to rise in a warm place for about 90 minutes until the dough has doubled in volume.
– Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.
– Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured board and knead again for a few minutes.
– Divide the mixture into 12 pieces and form each one into a bun shape.
– Place onto a greased tray and leave for approximately 15 minutes until doubled in bulk.
– Mix together the flour and water for the crosses and pipe onto the buns.
– Brush with egg glaze.
– Bake for approximately 15 minutes and cool on a wire rack.
*Some cooks wanted these ingredients left out.
So, make, eat, and enjoy!!!

Fairy hugs,

The Fairy Queen
(well, Fairy Princess Buttons and The Easter Bunny really!)
Oh, PS: Buttons told me that the Easter Bunny drank Green Tea with her! Fancy that!

Fairy Roses for Christmastime!

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Hello little Fairykins!

Christmas is just around the corner and I’m so excited! My special Christmas roses are helping me make a lovely carol for our Fairyland Christmas party – all the birds, animals and flowers will sing for the other fairies. Fairy Princess Fairy Floss is making gingerbread and candy cane flavoured fairy floss and it’s just scrumdiddliumptious! Fairy Princesses Rainbow, Butterfly and Sparkles have been decorating the Christmas tree at Crystal Castle and it looks just magical!

I’ve got some fabulous shoes for our Christmas party. They are pink and sparkly and with each step I take they play music – such fun! The silkworms that live at the bottom of the garden are spinning silk for my dress – so nice of them! I’ve been very busy wrapping presents for all the fairies and my animal friends. Cinnamon the rabbit and I have just been talking and we think the nicest thing about Christmas is all the lovely smiles. Make sure you give lots of smiles away this Christmas – it makes a fairy feel tickled pink!

Well must go sweet peas – Fairy Princess Stardust and I are giving a concert for Santa’s elves – they’ve been working so hard we’d thought they’d like a little music.

Lots of Love,

Fairy Princess Rosebud

Greetings fellow fairy friends

The pegasii have decided that its far more exciting to watch the reindeer train for their big flight on christmas eve night, so they haven’t been practising as much as they should for the Christmas night spectacular… and for some reason they have all painted their noses red… mmm I wonder what that is all about (tee hee hee).

I am very excited about our christmas party this year as Fairy Princess Rosebud has a special surprise for us all. I can hardly wait! I shall be wearing the most loveliest gown designed by Fairy Princess Sparkles. It is covered in sparkles and swirls and has the most delicate tiny little presents anyone has ever seen stuck all over it! Can you keep a secret? I hope so, because at the end of the christmas party everyone gets to choose a present from my dress! Ooo I wonder what I should put inside each giftbox. Maybe you can help me. Think a thought and then wish really hard and I just know it will come true and then each of the fairies in fairyland will love the gift from you!!!

Well it seems poor Santa now has three pegasii trying to pull his practise sleigh! I’d best flutter off and get my pega-deer back (tee hee hee)!

Sweet wishes,

Fairy Princess Crystal

Christmas Fairy Floss!

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Hello my little Fairylings,

Well as you know it is busy, busy, busy in Fairyland especially at this time of year – there is so much to do! I am making all the Fairy Floss (in assorted flavours) for the Crystal Castle Christmas Party and there are so many different types! I have to make over 100 different batches!

I am making little bunches of Fairy Floss clouds for each of the Fairies for Christmas – I got some beautiful crystal ribbons from Fairy Princess Crystal and some magical floating dust from Fairy Princess Stardust. I also have to make a special giant cloud for the Fairy Queen – in her favourite flavour; lemon gelato with watermelon sprinkles!

I have also found the most perfect dress thanks to Fairy Raine and Fairy Princess Rainbow! It is made from the most delicate little rain droplets resting on tiny little rainbows which makes it reflect so many beautiful colours! For shoes, since green is my favourite colour, Fairy Princess Jade whipped up some gorgeous jade shoes that match the green in the rainbows perfectly!

Oh it is such an exciting time – do you know that more that getting presents – I love giving them? My favourite present to give is a hug – everybody loves hugs and everybody needs hugs! So make sure you help Santa spread Christmas cheer by giving someone a hug and saying Merry Christmas!!

Well I must rush Dewdrops, I have lots to do and only so many hands to do it with – and OH NO! Thumper my beautiful fluffy pet bunny has gotten into the Fairy Floss maker – he is all sticky! Now I really have to go – he needs a bath *laughing*.

Merry Christmas Fairylings!

Love and bear hugs!

Pegasus eats Fairy shoes !!!

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Hello Fairy Princesses, Frogs, Chickens alike..

Well I am just sooooo excited that I had to share this with you all.

As you all will know I have a Pegasus called “Wingz”, she’s a beautiful snowy white Pegasus with the brightest pink tipped wings. Now Wingz has been known to misbehave sometimes, and well, about a month ago, Wingz decided that she was hungry. Instead of flying down to Pegasus Meadowlands she decided to sneak into my little mushroom shoe cupboard and take two big bites out of my BEST silver glitter fairy shoes!! Can you believe it!!! It was so upsetting because I had to go to a few fairy parties with holes in my shoes (though I will admit, I could run a little faster with holes in my shoes).

Anyway, I came home tonight and the most beautiful decorated box was sitting on my front veranda with a little note. The note read;

“Dear Blossom, I’m sorry for eating your shoes, but they SO yummy. Here is a brand new pair for you. Love Wingz xx”.

I ripped open the box as fast as I could (just like you fairies do when we play pass the parcel) and out jumped the PRETTIEST pair of shoes I have EVER seen. They were white like the colour of Wingz with love hearts printed all over them in all colours of the rainbow. They are sooo comfy and I can run so fast, just like the wind.

So that, my fairy friends, was my very exciting present of today. Hope to see you all out and about soon.

Fairy kisses,

Fairy Floss and Bumble Bees!

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Hello My Beautiful Sparkling Fairies!

It has been such a long time since I have written I have been very busy. Between ensuring FQHQ is fully stocked with fairy floss, keeping my Pegasus Phinn amused and picking many a flower from the fairy forest, I have not had time to fly! It is also very busy with birthdays all over the world! And you all know how much we love to play! I also found a new friend in the fairy forest – a bumble bee named Buzz – he is an unusual bee – flowers make him sneeze! I thought that was very funny – can you imagine a busy little bumble bee who can not sniff flowers! Anyway, he is very good with gardening so he is going to look after the little garden outside my mushroom house and make sure to let me know when everything needs food and water.

I went shopping the other day and found the most delicious pair of fairy shoes, they were all shimmery and sparkling and I just loved the colours! They were pink and orange – I thought they would be especially fabulous for Blossom or Stardust! I might get them for one of their birthdays. Anyway, I had better be off – I have to change the flowers at Crystal Castle and I still need to make a huge batch of banana and raspberry flavoured fairy floss to take down to Pegasus Castle for Crystal. I keep telling her keep away from the Pegasus but she is so forgetful!

Lots of Fluffy Hugs and Kisses

Crystal and the Alliance at the Fairy Festival!

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Greetings fellow Fairy friends!

The Festival of the Fairies is about to begin!!! I have been working extra extra hard with The Pegasus Starfleet Alliance Team making sure they are all ready for the Grand Fairy Finale… so dont be surprised if you happen to see a pegasus fly past your house!

The best thing of all is that Fairy Princess Rainbow is creating beautiful Fairy fizz bomzles that will explode in the night sky – ooh I shall have to warn Fairy Princess Stardust to put the baby stars in the nursery so they don’t get frightened.

Fairy Princess Snowflake is making me a beautiful gown out of tiny little snow flakes and icicles, but don’t worry I won’t catch a cold as the dress is made out of snow jewels that grow in the middle of the magical snow drop flower!

I am so excited and have been practicing my dance steps and my singing (although I think my singing may be scaring the Pegasii he he he!). I wonder if Fairy Raine is going to able make her delicious cloud juice. It’s soo yummy and changes to a different colour every time you take a sip! I know that Fairy Princess Sparkles is doing something fantabulosly magical but its a surprise. Can you guess what it might be????

Oh goodness me! Pegasus Marigold has just crashed into the daisy patch I best go and rescue her…. again!

See you where the moonbeams end, little Fairy friends.

Fairy Princess Seashell and the Fairy Festival!

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008
Hi there Fairy Friends, big and small, tall and short, young and old, happy and happier!!

I’ve just dried off my wings after my morning swim at my favourite beach in Fairyland. It’s called Lorelei Cove and the waves down there are perfect for swimming through, while rolling over and over! I love to open my eyes under the water and look up through the waves at the bright blue sky and the warm sun!

Before I flew to Lorelei Cove this morning I ate some yummy star fruit with delicious yogurt and then I rubbed lots of sunscreen all over my Fairy self and my face and wings. I couldn’t swim for too long today because I am meeting Fairy Princess Petal and all the other Fairy Princesses for dance rehearsal! That’s right! The May Day Fairy Festival is just around the corner and as well as learning a new dance I’m teaching my Mermaid friends a new song. They are going to sing a song called “Shimmer Shimmer Ocean Glimmer” on the first morning of the Festival. Have you ever heard a Mermaid sing? If you haven’t heard a Mermaid sing yet, I’ll tell you how it sounds. It sounds like clouds filling with rain, a violin with strings made of rainbow, the sound of sunlight sparkling on a puddle, a flower’s yawn as it spreads it’s petals and the laughter of children at a birthday party.. ALL MIXED TOGETHER!!! The voice of a Mermaid gives all the Fairy’s in Fairyland happy goosebumps even on a really hot day!

It’s fun trying to get all the Mermaids together for practice! They are very busy at Oceanic Castle and can only practice at dinner time! So I have been eating dinner with the Mermaids every night for the last week! Guess what their favourite food is at the moment? It’s SUSHI!! An important Mermaid visitor to Oceanic Castle arrived last week and she was all the way from JAPAN! Her name was Mermaid Takumi (that means Pioneer of the Sea in Japanese) and she bought baskets and baskets of Sushi for the Mermaids to try! The Mermaids from Oceanic Castle love Sushi now and so do I! Maybe I should ask Fairy Princess Fairy Floss if we can have Sushi at the Fairy Festival Banquet…. I wonder what else there will be to eat?

Love Fairy Princess Seashell.
