We had a fabulous time up in the Enchanted Forest at the Ekka this year. We played lots of games, ate lots of fairy floss, and met some wonderful people. Is your photo in our Ekka album? We’re having a blast in the Enchanted Forest at this year’s Ekka. There’s fairies running everywhere…playing ‘What’s the Time Fairy Queen’ and rocking out to the Fairy Pokey.

The Best MC at the Ekka, well, in the world really!

Karen was our MC up in the Enchanted Forest and we love her no end! We even crowned her a Fairy Princess on the last day. Karen has done an amazing job as host of the Forest for the past 7 years and we look forward to catching up with her again soon. (Sometimes, Karen was even crazier than what we were! She does a mean macarena!)

Well, last day of the Ekka! What an amazing ten days it’s been! We have met some absolutely wonderful people and had SO much fun. Can’t wait to do it all over again next year!

On our last day, we got a little more complex with the Caboolture Cobra Cheerleaders. We had watched these young ladies perform daily, up to three times a day - gee, do they have some energy! What a great way to build fitness and confidence in young girls. Anyway, Miss Julie added a shimmy to the routine, Karen came out to join us, as did Travis from the Bilbies… well, it’s better to just watch the video…(coming soon - watch this space!)

We finished off our days in the Enchanted Forest with another round of Funky Fairy Dancing, an uncoordinated Macarena, and a huge Fairy basketful of great memories and fabulous friendships!

Yay for Super Shirl!

We got to dance and jump around with Super Shirl the Dancing Girl from Fitness and Dance everyday in the Enchanted Forest! Supershirl has a high energy interactive show where she shows everyone that they all have a little superhero inside themselves! (I learnt that I was a Superhero at Wand Waving!).

This is the Most Important Doorman at the Ekka. He has a Most Important job. This is in front of the Most Important Door at the RNA showgrounds.

And we met lots of fire fighters! These guys volunteer every year at Ekka to sell their calendars to raise money for the Burns Unit at the Children’s Hospital. You can support them and buy one of their calendars here.

I went down to visit the Barnyard Babies Nursery today and this calf decided to play peek-a-boo with my skirt. He came up and nudged my leg, and then just stayed there! I got my skirt and flicked it over his head and said “peek-a-boo” and he seemed to like it. So we played for a while. Then he saw someone with a bucket of food and he took off.

Let me introduce you to “Bubble Boy”. We say hello to him everyday, he always has a smile and a heap of bubbles for the Fairies! (Yes, he sells bubble machines).

Dagwood Dogs, Fairy Floss, Strawberry Icecreams, it’s all happening at the Ekka!

More than Daggy Dogs for brekkie, we love the Fairy Floss. Did you know that this one comes in three flavours??

This is the amazing Licorice man. He has, not 10 flavours, not 20 flavours, but 22 different flavours of licorice! (We recommend the Gooseberry!)

And look who I ran into!! This is the ‘Go For 2 & 5′ person! I was very excited to meet him, and he gave me a lovely crunchy cool apple to eat for my fairy lunch! 2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of veges every day - YUMMY!

The Enchanted Forest also hosts Family 96.5FM radio, broadcasting live daily during the Ekka.

They talked live on air to the Fairies a few times, and we even sung the Fairy Pokey! I interviewed Tanya Gordon for a job position as a Fairy, and she scored pretty highly. Do you think she’d make a good Fairy Princess? The photo above is of Fairy Princess Stardust’s moment of fame!

Stardust also rocked out with her electric guitar in the Enchanted Forest. Once she saw Rockin’ Ranger Matt go off, she decided to show everyone what a jazz Fairy has going on. She sang her way through the Fairy Pokey and we had a great time being so loud that all the cows up the back started to moo along with us!
